(part 1 of 2) by Lisa http://blog.onetaiko.org/2012/02/taiko-baby-or-taiko-baby-part-1-of-2/comment-page-1/#comment-1882 Tue, 05 May 2015 01:12:09 +0000 http://blog.onetaiko.org/?p=2029#comment-1882 Hi there,

I just wanted to let you know that from reading this blog entry at the beginning of the year, I’ve had the confidence to keep going in my taiko training and performances. I’m now 27 weeks, and I’m going to start slowing down a bit now, moving from the chu to the shime for the next couple of months. We had an hour long concert this weekend been, and I can tell things are starting to get a bit harder. But doing taiko throughout the pregnancy has kept me fit, healthy and flexible! I had a small concern when the baby took a couple of days to recover from the concert. It went a little quiet, only just getting back to full kicking now. I imagine she turned to the back, to get a bit of peace! Anyway, thanks! As there is not a lot on the web to refer to.

Comment on Shidara Residency by Andrew http://blog.onetaiko.org/2009/11/shidara-residency/comment-page-1/#comment-1848 Wed, 29 Feb 2012 02:55:39 +0000 http://blog.onetaiko.org/?p=1479#comment-1848 I’m interested in Taiko but there are no local clubs. Recently I came across Shidara and have been crazy about them ever since. I actually lived in Aichi Prefecture for 16 years so I kind of know the area – really beautiful countryside… I go back every year or so and am curious about the residency program. How much did it cost? (I’m not rolling in cash but can afford the airfare, trainfare etc)

Comment on Swim Like a Drummer by Rebecca Kay http://blog.onetaiko.org/2010/01/swim-like-a-drummer/comment-page-1/#comment-1820 Sat, 04 Feb 2012 15:12:59 +0000 http://blog.onetaiko.org/?p=1594#comment-1820 Hi Beth,
Just came across your “Swim Like a Drummer” article and enjoyed it very much. I have been a masters swimmer for 35+ years, but a taiko drummer for only 1 1/2 yrs. I have done the 100 100s before too — what an exhilarating experience! I’ve slowed down a bit over the years — now my intervals are at 1:45. However, I’ve never thought about swimming from the core and the meditative mindset I get into with swimming as being also available and desireable with drumming. Of course! Thank you for taking the time to write out your experience and observations — it is helpful to me with drumming.

It was amazing live– I was hoping someone was videoing (though I know recordings never fully capture taiko. . .) What a fantastic piece and performance!
